August 1-2, teachers met in the Science Center on the campus at
Wisconsin Lutheran College for Operation Science training
sessions. The first day, the teachers took part in using the
skills of science (observing, communicating, measuring,
inferring, making models, and using the scientific method) as
they participated in several hands-on lessons. The second day, teachers received training in a unit of their
choice. (Units offered were Balls and Ramps, Fabric, Solids and
Liquids, Butterflies, Balancing and Weighing, Rocks and
Minerals, Sound, Experiments with Plants, and Magnets and
Motors) Teachers spent the day experiencing hands-on lessons
that are part of each unit. Once teachers receive this
training, they are qualified to rent the unit for their own
classroom to use.
